Summary
Thenewly established Department of Translational Pathology at Moffitt Cancer Center, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Ignacio Wistuba, is poised to revolutionize the field of biomarker-guided oncology by seamlessly integrating cutting-edge research into personalized clinical care. In collaboration with the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) program, this department is set to develop innovative translational research platforms that will explore molecular, immunological, computational, and pathology-driven studies, enriching realms such as computational pathology and genomic profiling.
By adopting a multidisciplinary approach, the department ensures that groundbreaking discoveries are swiftly translated into clinical trials, paving the way for tailored treatments based on unique biomarker profiles. Furthermore, it offers a
remarkable opportunity for post-doctoral fellows trained in surgical pathology to refine their expertise in cancer diagnostics and predictive biomarkers. Utilizing a diverse array of methodologies—including histology and computational pathology—with a keen focus on solid tumors and hematologic malignancies, this initiative promises to shape the future of cancer care and research.

The Ideal Candidate:
- The candidate should possess formal training in surgical pathology.
- To be interested in having training in novel cytology and pathology-related research methodologies.
- Having a collaborative spirit and being interested in learning the role of translational pathology approaches in the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in cancer.
- Having an analytical mind and basic knowledge of computer software to maintain and analyze data, as well as summarize data and prepare presentations.
Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct research directed towards answering a specific scientific question under appropriate supervision.
- Cooperate with and assist other research personnel in maintenance of research equipment and work areas.
