We are looking for an Orthopedic Medical Assistant with Basic X-Ray certification to work in a fast-paced practice and work side by side with our Orthopedic surgeon, PA and MA as part of a core orthopedic team. The role is responsible for performing fluoroscopic intraoperative imaging during orthopedic surgical and pain management procedures as requested by physicians. They will be responsible for coordinating the scheduling of fluoroscopic cases, providing staff with the equipment required for safe practices related to exposure, ensuring proper sterile procedures are followed, room turnover in preparation for cases that follow, and adherence to OSHA requirements.
PrimaryJob Responsibilities
- Perform all exams using established protocols. Identify patients prior to performing exams and educate patients concerning the exam. Screen patients for any contrast allergies.
- Perform all types of imaging procedures and operate all equipment in a safe manner, minimizing radiation exposure to patients, families, and co-workers. Follow infection control standards and utilize approved personal protective equipment (PPE) and disinfectant agents. Maintain a properly stocked, organized, and clean room.
- Provide basic patient care, including monitoring patient condition, caring for patient comfort, safety, and privacy. Obtain and document patient history and explain procedures.
- Assist with casting/splinting.
- Assist with injection procedures.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures and take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
- Process digital images in accordance with standardized procedures.
- Perform a variety of technical tasks involved in operating X-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body as specified by the physician. Adjust equipment for proper exposure, voltage, and current in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.
- Operate C-arm in the procedure room for spinal injections, kyphoplasty procedures, etc.
- Explain X-ray procedures to patients; position patients for each anatomical view specified using immobilization and protective devices as required. Report any changes in patient condition to attending medical staff.
- Obtain quality diagnostic radiographs as requested by Physician, PA-C, or ARNP.
- Ensure that all equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Log completed radiological procedures.
- Identify and file reports as required.
- Maintain X-ray room and stock necessary radiological supplies.
- Work closely with Physicians, PA-Cs, or ARNP to ensure appropriate patient care.
- Obtain high-quality digital images in a busy work environment.
- Follow physician protocols and obtain high-quality images in a busy, fast-paced environment.

Education/Certification/Licenses- Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BMXO) certification.
Must display comprehensive and current knowledge of general radiology practice.
Must have Fluoroscopic C-Arm experience.
ExperiencePrior experience in an orthopedic practice setting is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe employee must possess the necessary technical skills to fulfill all duties of the X-Ray Technician role.
