Cloud Architect – Refresco Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cloud Architect to manage and optimize our AWS cloud infrastructure. As a Cloud Architect, you will design, deploy, and maintain AWS resources, ensuring reliable operation, security, and cost‑efficiency. You will collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams, implement best practices, and drive the maximum value of the cloud environment.

Responsibilities
  • Cloud Architecture Design: lead the design of scalable, secure, and highly available AWS cloud architectures that meet business and technical requirements; develop architecture blueprints, reference architectures, and design patterns for common cloud use cases; define and document end‑to‑end architecture solutions, including application, data, integration, security, and infrastructure components.
  • Application & Data Architecture Alignment: collaborate with application architects and developers to design modern, cloud‑native architectures.
  • Governance, Standards & Best Practices: define and promote cloud architectural standards, naming conventions, and design principles across teams; establish and enforce cloud governance frameworks, cost control mechanisms, and architecture review processes.
  • Strategic Planning & Cloud Roadmaps: contribute to the cloud strategy and roadmap, aligning AWS services and architectural patterns with future business growth; evaluate new AWS features and emerging cloud technologies to determine strategic fit and timing.
  • Mentorship & Technical Leadership: act as a technical advisor and mentor to engineers and other architects, helping them understand architectural trade‑offs and decisions; lead design reviews, architectural decision records (ADRs), and technical documentation for cloud‑based projects.
  • AWS Infrastructure Management: provision, configure and maintain AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, Cloud Watch, etc.); manage EC2 instances, Auto Scaling, and load balancing for performance and availability; manage AWS VPC, subnets, security groups, and routing for secure networking.
  • Monitor & Troubleshoot: set up and monitor AWS Cloud Watch for resource usage, performance, and security metrics; identify, troubleshoot, and manage resolution of AWS‑related incidents and service disruptions.
  • Security & Compliance: implement IAM roles, policies, and best practices to ensure secure access management; regular audit and ensure compliance with internal security policies and external regulatory requirements; manage data encryption, key management, and secure access to AWS resources.
  • Cost Management & Optimization: monitor cloud usage and optimize resources for cost‑efficiency; use AWS Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor, and other tools to identify cost‑saving opportunities; review and recommend appropriate cloud service plans and architecture adjustments.
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery: implement and manage backup strategies using AWS services (e.g., S3, Glacier, EBS Snapshots); design and test disaster recovery plans for critical applications hosted on AWS.
  • Collaboration & Documentation: work closely with development teams to deploy applications and services in the cloud; provide technical support and guidance on cloud‑related issues; maintain clear and detailed documentation on cloud infrastructure, configurations, and processes.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Proficiency with AWS services (e.g., EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, Cloud Formation, Lambda, Cloud Watch).
  • Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of networking (VPC, DNS, Load Balancers, VPNs).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, Power Shell, etc.) for automation.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and Dev Ops practices.
  • Exposure to SAP S/4

    HANA is a plus as well as integration with other SAP bolt‑on products.
  • Familiarity with Identity Management tools, LDAP and Active Directory.
