AboutThe Role
Peraton requires Unified Comms Engineers to support the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) - 3 EOM. This position is located at Mac Dill AFB.
The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (Net Ops); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end user and common device support;
provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365.
The Unified Communications (UC) Engineer designs, deploys, administers, and supports an organization's integrated communication systems, which merge various tools like IP telephony, video conferencing, instant messaging, and email into a single, seamless platform. This role involves ensuring high availability, performance monitoring, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with other IT teams and vendors to provide reliable and secure communication services for all users.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating in the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Unified Communications environment.
- Strategic System Design and Implementation:
Conceptualize, architect, and meticulously implement robust communication systems, seamlessly integrating voice, video, data, and messaging solutions to meet current and future organizational needs. - Administration and Maintenance:
Manage and configure voice and video communication hardware and software platforms and applications such as Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and Cisco Instant Message & Presence (IM&P), Microsoft Teams, VQ Conferencing Manager, Voice & Video Routers and Expressways, Video Streaming and Recording applications, Phone Provisioning applications, Cisco Meeting Server (CMS), ensuring high availability of services. - Advanced Troubleshooting and Support:
Serve as a critical Tier 2/3 support resource, diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues impacting voice, video, and messaging systems. This often requires advanced analytical skills, including in-depth packet capture analysis using tools like Wireshark to pinpoint root causes. - Proactive Performance Monitoring and Capacity Planning:
Continuously monitor system performance, analyze trends, and proactively identify potential bottlenecks or capacity limitations. Implement solutions to ensure optimal performance, minimized latency, and maximum up-time. - Cross-Functional Collaboration and Vendor Management:
Foster strong working relationships with networking, security, and other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and interoperability. Effectively collaborate with external vendors and telecommunications carriers to manage services, resolve issues, and leverage new technologies. - Comprehensive Documentation and Standards Development:
Establish and meticulously maintain comprehensive technical standards, detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs), and accurate asset inventories for UC configurations, deployment processes, and ongoing maintenance. - Project Leadership and Execution:
Lead and actively participate in strategic projects aimed at enhancing, upgrading, or expanding the organization's UC infrastructure. This includes overseeing the deployment of new communication solutions for component builds and executing complex system migrations. - Security and Compliance Assurance:
Implement and rigorously enforce security protocols, robust encryption methods, and adherence to relevant compliance regulations, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all communication data.
