Business Analyst - Payments Risk Transformation Program

Location:
New York, NY /Tampa, FL (Hybrid)

Duration: 12+ Months (Possibility of Extension)

Job Description:

• This initiative is part of Client’s CEO-led Payments Risk Transformation program within the Service Markets Banking International Client (SMBI) segment. The focus is on reducing processing risk (not fraud or cyber), improving controls across payment workflows, and strengthening operational risk frameworks through solutioning, program management, and data analysis.
• The transformation team sits within Operations and collaborates across business lines, technology, and control functions. It will include Business Analysts (BAs) and Data Analysts (DAs) who will support sub-streams of the initiative—initially focused on control implementation and testing, with a later transition to BAU teams.

Role & Responsibilities

• BAs:
  Drive process mapping, gather requirements, and resolve issues in payment workflows.
• DAs:
  Lead data querying and visualization using SQL, Python, and Tableau.
• All roles require strong data handling skills, regardless of title.
• There will be overlap between BA and DA responsibilities.
• Candidates should be comfortable working in agile, fast-paced environments, contributing to iterative delivery and partnering with multiple stakeholders across operations, tech, and risk.

Technical & Domain Expectations

• SQL (e.g., via Starburst) for querying data
• Python for post-query data transformation
• Tableau for dashboards and monitoring tools
• No database modeling or SQL tuning needed

Qualifications:

• 12–15+ years of experience preferred; mid-level talent with relevant skills or payments background welcome
• Strong background in wholesale payments (SWIFT, clearing, settlements) highly valued
• BAs with program delivery experience or hybrid BA/PM capability are preferred
• Experience with control implementation, and ability to drive or support handover to BAU
