Power BI Analyst / Lead – Data Engineering Projects
LocationTampa, FL (Remote)
Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Power BI Analyst / Lead to design, develop, and lead enterprise-grade reporting and visualization solutions for large-scale data engineering initiatives. This role bridges data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders, ensuring data pipelines deliver high-performance, trusted insights through Power BI.
The candidate will play a key role in defining visualization standards, semantic models, and performance optimization strategies across complex data platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and development of Power BI dashboards, reports, and data models aligned with data engineering solutions.
- Partner closely with data engineers and data architects to define data models, semantic layers, and optimized datasets.
- Translate business and analytical requirements into Power BI-friendly data structures and visualizations.
- Build and optimize DAX measures, calculated columns, and KPIs for enterprise reporting needs.
- Ensure performance optimization of Power BI reports using best practices (aggregations, incremental refresh, model optimization).
- Define and enforce Power BI standards, best practices, and reusable visualization patterns.
- Support data validation and reconciliation between source systems, data pipelines, and Power BI outputs.
- Manage row-level security (RLS), workspace configuration, and dataset governance.
- Lead or mentor junior Power BI analysts and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Participate in UAT, stakeholder reviews, production releases.
- Work closely with client teams to deliver insights aligned with business objectives.
- 6+ years of experience as a Power BI Analyst / Lead, supporting data engineering or analytics platforms.
- Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Gateway.
- Advanced proficiency in DAX, data modeling (star/snowflake schemas), and performance tuning.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with enterprise-scale datasets.
- Experience integrating Power BI with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Redshift, Big Query).
- Understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines and data engineering workflows.
- Proven experience leading visualization efforts and engaging with business stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, dbt, Airflow, or similar orchestration tools.
- Exposure to Power BI Premium, Fabric, or capacity management.
- Familiarity with CI/CD for Power BI and source control integration.
- Experience in regulated or large enterprise environments.
- Microsoft certifications (PL-300, DA-100)
