Position Concept

The Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) Analyst is a technical resource with a background in Distribution Grid Modeling, Distribution Planning, and DMS and OMS (Outage Management System) functionality. They design and deliver TECO’s control systems related applications and provide ongoing customer support to ensure reliable performance and world-class customer satisfaction. They collaborate on all phases of the software development life-cycle (SDLC) and utilize appropriate development tools and technologies in keeping with our IT architecture for commissioning hardware and software applications for Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and Outage Management Systems (OMS).

Responsibilities
  • Develop complex software based on specifications provided and collaborate with Business Systems Analysts and/or Business Partners to develop software specifications.
  • Implement software packages for which in-depth configuration and integration is required and drive substantial interaction with vendor resources.
  • Integrate applications with complex interfaces based on specifications provided.
  • Provide 24x7 primary and/or secondary support for one or more applications classified as niche, core, or mission-critical.
  • Support the request and analysis phases of SDLC by producing required documentation and estimates, review deliverables produced by junior staff.
  • Execute the design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC by producing the prescribed deliverables, review deliverables produced by junior staff.
  • Participate on an Application Development and Support team as well as project teams under the direction of their manager or project managers and may function as Technical Lead on any project.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of business areas relevant to projects and application support assignments and participate in developing and driving standard practices within their team.
  • Acquire and maintain appropriate technical skills and mentor junior staff.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent discipline (additional years of related experience may be considered).
  • Six years of experience in systems analysis, design, and development (four additional years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Strong knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies; stays current with IT industry trends and emerging technologies and suggests application of new technologies when appropriate.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills; frequently presents information to their team and department.
  • Understands project plans and is able to clearly articulate their role, project goals, and timelines; develops project plans for small projects and partners with Project Managers to develop project plans for large projects.
  • Creates and reviews technical design specifications and possesses knowledge of development tools and technologies in support of the Information Technology Architecture.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.
