The goal of the Financial Clearance Unit Department is to identify the responsible party for payment, secure authorizations from insurance companies or find financial alternatives for patients in the most accurate, effective and prompt way possible, to ensure the financial health of Moffitt Cancer Center.
The Supervisor of the Financial Clearance Unit is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the department, overseeing the selection, on-boarding and training of new staff, continuing education of all team members and ensure Worklists are being worked properly throughout the day by team members following all steps required in the financial clearance process, including accurate creation and allocation of insurance plans, accurate submission of clinical information, prompt and effective follow up, clear understanding of automation processes, effective communication with patients and clinical teams to ensure patients can receive the care needed and the center is reimbursement for services rendered.
The Supervisor maintains clear understanding of systems and processes and can perform all aspects of the work conducted by his/her team. The supervisor will ensure the Key Performance Indicators (KPI), including Percentage of Encounters Financially Cleared two weeks out 90% and above, Quality, Productivity and Denial metrics are measured, met or exceeded and communicated to the team.

Responsibilities- Effectively leads the Day-today functions for smooth and efficient function of the department. Adheres, maintains, monitors and promotes the guidelines set forth in the Department and Hospitals' policies and procedures as they relate to Financial Clearance responsibilities.
- Performs Quality Audits and Worklists
- Effectively supervises Daily/Weekly/Monthly Reporting and Tasks
- Communicates professionally, timely and effectively
- Provides and oversees Training and Education
- Provide support to Performance Manager, Manager and Director
- High School Diploma with 7 years of demonstrated progressive customer service, financial clearance, or revenue cycle functions required, inclusive of one year in a supervisory or lead/coordinator role.

- Associates Degree with 5 years demonstrated progressive customer service, financial clearance, or revenue cycle functions required, inclusive of one year in a supervisory or lead/coordinator role.
- Or
- Bachelors Degree with 3 years demonstrated progressive customer service, financial clearance, or revenue cycle functions required, inclusive of one year in a supervisory or lead/coordinator role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
- Knowledge of guidelines, authorization and medical necessity requirements for commercial and government insurances
- Knowledge of financial assistance programs offered by the state
- Proficiency with data analysis and quality evaluation
- Possess analytical skills with the ability to summarize and to present data
