POSITION CONCEPT:
The Combined Cycle Specialist (CCS) (Electrical or I/C) is responsible in a line capacity to the Superintendent of Generation for the performance of all assigned operating and maintenance tasks. The incumbent is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of plant equipment and systems. This includes monitoring, observing, and maintaining conditions that affect the safe and reliable operation of the plant, compliance with all applicable NERC standards, and compliance with environmental permits.
In addition, the CCS is responsible for following all water management guidance, completing individual and teamwork assignments, and ensuring an optimum and professional response to his customer’s (Energy Control Center) power needs.
Prior to appointment to the CCS position, individuals must be able to pass (and maintain) physical requirements to allow participation on an Emergency Response Team; including, but not limited to: physical exam / PFT (pulmonary function test), and fit tests for the personal respiratory protection equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure safe work practices and station safety programs are followed. Ensure Corporate / Department (ES) / Bayside Station Policies are understood and followed.
- Successfully complete all required training and assessments within the time allocated for each position step. Including emergency response training (i.e. Confined Space Rescue, Hazmat, Incipient Fire, First Aid / CPR).
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skill needed to perform effectively in all operating positions; (Power Block, Steam Plant, Rover, and Control Room). Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- ability to perform accurate rounds,
- ability to perform accurate turnovers / information sharing,
- perform minor repairs, initiate/work/complete work orders work orders utilizing the workman system.
- Perform all maintenance assignments in a safe and efficient manner. Be able to perform at a journeyman level within the individual CCS’s core craft skill. Provide assistance to other CCS’s with any maintenance task as needed. Perform maintenance tasks outside of core craft skill where individual ability allows safe and accurate completion.
- Support opportunities for Continuous Improvement created by Operational Excellence Programs; (e.g., ownership of area assignments, 3-way communication, electronic logs, enhanced rounds, etc.
- Foster and participate in an environment of open communication with peers, support staff and management.
- Understand and support the attainment of company and station goals.
- Keep Energy Control Center personnel, duty personnel, plant management, engineering and technical staff updated on equipment problems, system restrictions, return to service delays, and reliability issues.
- Complete turn over logs, unusual incident reports, accident reports, environmental incident reports, CEM malfunction documentation, and the capability report.
