Job DescriptionAs an Inside Machinist, you are responsible for the assembly, installation, modification, and repair of various ship machinery and systems. You set up, service, repair, align, and test machines that operate on a mechanical and electro‑mechanical basis. Skilled with precision you utilize tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders to repair machine parts to manufacturer specifications. After evaluating procedures, you recommend changes related to the efficiency of setup and production.
Key Responsibilities- Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Read micrometers with low tolerance.
- Operate all inside shop equipment accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare written mechanical evaluations.
- Read and work from blueprints.
- Pass a drug test.
- Work independently.
- No experience required.
- Basic hand tools proficiency.
- Drug testing/screening required.
- Three (3) years of machining experience.
- Shipyard experience.
Full‑time position; 1st shift (7:30 am to 4:00 pm); 40 hours per week. Evenings and weekends may be required when needed. Pay is $24.95 per hour (varies with experience). Benefits are offered.
