Requirement:
Basic knowledge and experience operating a water‑cooled chiller, cooling tower, hot water boiler, circulating pumps, chill water closed loops, and hot water heating closed loops are required.
Pay Range: $30.00 per hour to $30.00 per hour.

The Plant Operator is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical systems and equipment at the Utility Plants. This includes ensuring that all machinery, pumps, boilers, compressors, and other mechanical components are functioning optimally. The role requires expertise in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and mechanical repairs to minimize downtime and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
Job SummaryKey Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Repair:
Perform routine inspections, repairs, and maintenance of mechanical equipment in the utility plant. Troubleshoot mechanical failures, diagnose problems, and resolve them in a timely manner. Maintain and repair boilers, pumps, valves, air compressors, and other mechanical systems. Overhaul and replace parts in mechanical equipment as needed. Perform regular lubrication and alignment of equipment to prevent wear and tear. - Preventive Maintenance:
Execute preventive maintenance schedules to ensure the longevity and efficiency of plant machinery. Document maintenance work completed and report any discrepancies or issues to the supervisor. - Safety & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and operating procedures while performing mechanical tasks. Operate and handle tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Follow plant‑specific protocols for lockout/tagout procedures and ensure all safety measures are in place before working on any equipment. - Operational Support:
Provide on‑site support during startup and shutdown of plant operations. Monitor the performance of mechanical equipment during plant operations and make adjustments or repairs as necessary. - Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities. Prepare reports on mechanical issues, including root causes and resolution efforts. Ensure proper documentation of spare parts inventory and materials used. - Collaboration:
Work closely with engineers and other plant personnel to ensure the mechanical systems align with operational needs. Assist in the development and improvement of maintenance procedures and schedules.
- Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or degree in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or related field is preferred. Proven experience as a mechanic or maintenance technician in a thermal power plant or industrial setting. Familiarity with steam turbines, boilers, pumps, compressors, and other thermal power plant machinery. - Skills:
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and repair techniques. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals. Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations in industrial or plant environments. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. - Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, lifting heavy objects, and working in confined spaces. Comfortable working in varying environmental conditions, including heat and noise.
- Primarily based in a thermal power plant with exposure to high‐temperature systems, industrial machinery, and a variety of mechanical equipment.
