JOB SUMMARY
Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment for general aviation aircraft. Work may involve any of the following: setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal; shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using hammer; operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts; inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burr‑filled surfaces.
JOBRESPONSIBILITIES
- Determine project requirements, including scope, assembly sequences, and required methods and materials, according to blueprints, written and verbal instructions.
- Lay out sheet metal parts using blueprints, drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
- Alter existing parts using blueprints, drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
- Rivet and remove sheet metal components.
- Bend and form a radius on fabricated sheet metal parts.
- Drill various metals.
- Deburr holes and cut lines.
- Set up for countersinking of holes.
- Set up for dimpling of holes.
- Set up for and install solid rivets with a rivet gun.
- Set up for and install solid rivets with a squeeze tool.
- Install blind rivets and fasteners.
- Perform duties in a manner consistent with the latest state of the art and the highest standards of safety for maintaining aircraft in an airworthy and reliable condition for customer safety.
- Guide, instruct, and schedule the work for technicians and provide job‑related training or instruction as required.
Must have a high school diploma, equivalent certificate, or a Bronze Level Work Keys certification.
EXPERIENCEMinimum of 2 years experience on Textron Aviation aircraft.
QUALIFICATIONS- Knowledge of aircraft structure repair manuals.
- Knowledge of FAA AC 43.13‑1B.
- Skilled in identifying types of corrosion.
- Skilled in corrosion removal procedures.
- Skilled in the application and removal of wash etch and alodine material.
- Skilled in the application of primer.
- Identify rivets, bolts, screws, nuts, and washers.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an airport security badge through the local airport authority, if applicable.
