Board Chair (Volunteer) — Fit For Service Foundation

Fit For Service Foundation empowers youth ages 13–18, with priority for foster, homeless, and underserved/low‑income communities, through mentorship, military career exposure, fitness development, ASVAB readiness skills, and digital skills pathways. We are a Florida nonprofit corporation organized for charitable and educational purposes.

We’re seeking a Board Chair to help launch and scale a high‑integrity, youth‑centered program model in 2026. This is a hands‑on governance leadership role that partners closely with our Founder/Executive Director to build board strength, fundraising momentum, and operational credibility.

• Lead effective board meetings and set agendas with the Executive Director
• Ensure strong governance practices, committee performance, and accountability
• Support board recruitment (independent directors, key skill gaps)
• Coach and evaluate the Executive Director annually (goals, progress, support)
• Help activate fundraising through introductions, sponsor meetings, and partnership strategy
• Champion youth safety, ethics, and public trust (especially given our mission focus)

• Prior board leadership experience (Chair, Vice Chair, committee chair, or senior governance role)
• Strong network in one or more areas: corporate sponsor ships, philanthropy, education, youth services, workforce development, veteran/military community
• Comfortable leading meetings, building consensus, and holding clear accountability
• Values‑first leadership with strong judgment and discretion

• 4–8 hours/month, plus additional time during key fundraising or governance milestones
• Board meetings are primarily virtual; periodic in‑person presence in Tampa Bay is strongly preferred.

We’re building a model that helps youth develop readiness and informed career pathways through structured programming and mentors, while maintaining strict privacy and safeguarding standards.
