APRN/ PA - Intr. I - TGH Brooksville (Finance)

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is critical for patient care across the ambulatory and inpatient settings within the Department of Neurosurgery & Brain Repair. APRNs have independent clinic sessions to see pre‑operative, post‑operative and established patients, ensuring high‑quality patient care across the continuum of care. APRNs support specific neurosurgeons during clinic sessions to allow for additional patient scheduling. APRNs manage hospital care of neurosurgery patients according to the protocols established with the neurosurgeons and their hospital.

APRNs may assist neurosurgeons in the operating room.

This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64, or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.

• Conduct physical examinations and treat common episodic and chronic health care problems.
• Provide counseling to patients and families, monitor patient progress, and perform initial and periodic physical examinations.
• Converse with patients via MyChart and phone, updating records and documenting medication changes.
• Prepare patients for discharge, including prescriptions, follow‑up instructions, and discharge summaries.
• Assist in neurosurgical operative cases as first assistant and participate in potential call coverage.
• Analyze patients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional reactions, documenting findings in medical records.
• Complete medical paperwork (e.g., FMLA, Worker's Compensation).
• Participate in in‑service education programs and professional associations.
• Collaborate with other health care team members, consulting and referring as appropriate, retaining responsibility for ongoing clinical management.
• Assist with medical research projects as appropriate.

• Graduate from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic program (or Physician Assistant program).
• Certification in Florida Statutes 464/458/459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.
• Experience in ambulatory or inpatient neurosurgery settings preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and patient‑care skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
