Position Title

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) – Neurosurgery & Brain Repair

• Provide independent clinic sessions for pre‑operative, post‑operative, and established neurosurgical patients ensuring high‑quality patient care across the continuum of care.
• Support neurosurgeons during clinic sessions and enable additional patient scheduling within the neurosurgeon’s templates.
• Manage hospital care of neurosurgery patients according to protocols established with neurosurgeons and the hospital system.
• Assist neurosurgeons as first assistant in operative cases when requested and provide potential call coverage as defined by the hospital partner.
• Conduct detailed patient and family interviews, develop comprehensive medical histories, perform initial and periodic physical examinations, and document findings in appropriate medical records systems.
• Prepare patients for discharge including prescribing medications, providing follow‑up instructions, and completing discharge summaries.
• Perform post‑operative assessments, monitor patient progress, and update patient records noting medication changes and responses.
• Complete administrative documentation such as FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, and other required paperwork; write orders for medication adjustments subject to physician checking and counter‑signing.
• Participate in in‑service education programs, professional associations, and follow standardized procedures under general supervision.
• Contribute to research projects and collaborate with the health‑care team, while retaining responsibility for ongoing clinical management of the patient.

• Graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant academic degree program.
• Certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64 (for APRN) or Florida Statutes 458 and 459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64 (for PA).
• Valid Florida APRN or PA license in good standing.
• Experience in neurosurgery, neuro‑critical care, or related clinical settings is preferred.
