NICU-NNP APRN/PA Instructor I (Finance)
The APRN/PA will act in accordance with Florida Statutes for the Nurse Practitioners Act, providing care and management of critically ill infants in a level IV neonatal intensive care unit. This NICU Nurse Practitioner will cover night and/or day shifts, including weekends.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is based at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) in Tampa, FL. TGH is a 1,018-bed teaching hospital affiliated with USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. It is a private not-for-profit hospital with a comprehensive medical facility serving over 4 million people across a dozen counties. It features a level 3 NICU, the 82-bed Jennifer Leigh Muma NICU, a designated Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center, providing the highest level of care to premature and sick infants, as well as women with high-risk pregnancies.
USF/TGH Neonatology participates in the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative, aiming to improve maternal and infant health outcomes. Neonatal services include a Neonatal Transport Team, Fetal Care Center, and Whole-Body Cooling. Pediatric subspecialties available for collaborative treatment include Neurology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Hematology/Oncology, Nephrology, and Metabolic Genetics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Nursing with ARNP training;
Florida License. - BLS/AED certification (must be maintained).
- Experience:
2-5 years, including at least 2 years evaluating pediatric patients; neonate assessment experience preferred. - One year nursing experience in a physician's office or ambulatory healthcare setting preferred.
- ACLS or PALS certification.
- Graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant program with certification as per Florida statutes.

Clinical Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and manage neonates in the NICU, participate in rounds, and coordinate care with staff and families.
- Attend high-risk deliveries and stabilize critically ill neonates under supervision.
- Document all clinical activities and perform procedures such as intubation, line placements, lumbar punctures, etc.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Supervise pediatric residents and participate in teaching APP students, residents, and medical students.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Participate in QA projects, educational sessions, and organizational meetings.
Other Duties:
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chair.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience as an APP in family medicine or pediatrics.
