Job DescriptionA Research Scientist performs a variety of laboratory and field experiments in disciplines such as molecular biology, microbiology, genomics, physiology, and pathology. The candidate must have competency with standard scientific techniques and equipment, provide data for publication‑quality manuscripts or grants, and modify techniques as needed in collaboration with the principal investigator.
Responsibilities- 30% Manage transgenic mouse colony, genotyping, and conduct BSL‑1/2 research related to cardiovascular diseases.
- 20% Generate non‑surgical cardiovascular‑disease animal models (mice and rats) and perform BSL‑1/2 research.
- 20% Design and direct scientific projects using molecular/cell biological techniques under supervision.
- 20% Assist in preparation of chemicals/buffers, lab organization, updating protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- 10% Attend weekly lab meetings, discuss progress with Principal Investigator, practice safety, and comply with university policies.
Bachelor’s degree in a natural, physical, or medical science, or equivalent combination of education and 4 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications- At least 1 year of experience in cardiac mitochondrial research or related field.
- Experience in molecular/cell biological methods and in vivo cardiovascular disease models.
