Lab Manager

About the Position

USF Health College of Nursing, part of the University of South Florida, is a leader in nursing education and research. This position is grant‑funded and time‑limited. The primary responsibility of the lab manager will be to oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the research lab and assist in coordinating multiple ongoing studies.

• Attend all team meetings and take detailed notes.
• Manage the lab’s front desk and daily workflow.
• Organize and schedule lab activities.
• Supervise and train research assistants.
• Support Dr. McCrae and the SHINE Science Center in grant‑related administrative tasks.
• Prepare study materials and maintain regulatory and organizational documents.
• Assist with data collection, quality control, and ensure smooth communication across study teams.
• Apply strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills to keep lab operations efficient and well‑coordinated.

• Bachelor’s degree – OR – equivalent combination of education and a minimum of 3+ years of related experience.
• Degree equivalency per SB 1310:
  • Two years of direct experience for an associate degree.
  • Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree.
  • Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree.
  • Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.

• B.A. or B.S. in clinical psychology, neuroscience, public health, biology, or a related field.
• Prior research or lab experience, especially in human subjects research, sleep research, or behavioral health.

• May be subject to a Level 1 or Level 2 criminal background check.
