Postdoctoral Fellow – Focus on Metabolic Regulators of Cancer Epigenetics
Apply for the Postdoctoral Fellow – Focus on Metabolic Regulators of Cancer Epigenetics role at Moffitt Cancer Center
SummaryThe Bonini laboratory focuses on metabolic drivers of chromatin remodeling, exploring how metabolism-driven posttranslational modifications of histones and histone modifiers alter chromatin structure to influence cancer cell fate decisions, drug resistance, metastasis, and tumor cell heterogeneity.
Position Highlights- The Bonini Lab employs an interdisciplinary approach using redox biology technologies, metabolomics, novel mouse models, and biosensors to uncover mechanisms underlying cancer progression in cell cultures, patient‑relevant in vitro and in vivo models. This position will focus on metabolic drivers of chromatin organization relevant to tumor cell fate specification (see recent publications Palma, et al. (2024) Cell Reports;
Gantner, et al. (2024) Trends Cancer). The laboratory is currently funded by NIH grants. - Moffitt integrates excellent patient care with cutting‑edge clinical and basic research, offering unique translational research opportunities.
- Outstanding mentorship from faculty with extensive funded research programs, including T32 Training Grants.
- Support and encouragement to apply for training grants.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Experience with molecular biology and basic cell culture techniques.
- Strong background in cancer biology, cancer epigenetics, chromatin biology, microscopy, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving and organizational skills, self‑driven enthusiasm, and competence in conducting experiments independently and under supervision.
- Work independently with a strong desire to develop independent projects.
- Design and execute experiments; analyze and interpret data.
- Regularly present findings to the lab, the Moffitt community, and conferences to disseminate research findings in preparation for publication.
- Write manuscripts, pursue postdoctoral fellowships, and assist with other funding applications.
- MD or PhD in a related science.
- At least one first‑author and one co‑authored publication.
Interested applicants should apply online and send a single PDF file that includes a cover letter summarizing research training and accomplishments, a personal statement of scientific interests and goals, a current CV with recent publications, and contact information for three references.
BenefitsPostdocs receive medical insurance (Moffitt covers the premium for team members) effective upon start date, along with dental, vision, paid time off, retirement, parental leave, and more. Relocation assistance may be available per policy. The Gulf Coast of Florida offers sunshine, beaches, and a vibrant research community.
