Overview
Join Ross Stores, Inc. as a Store Protection Specialist and safeguard the shopping experience for associates and customers.
Responsibilities- Maintain a visible “command” presence at store entrances/exits and on the sales floor in a company‑issued vest or black attire.
- Conduct regular scans of entrances/exits and the sales floor to identify, deter, and respond to potential theft indicators.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits to support a safe and secure environment for all associates and customers.
- Partner with Store Leadership to ensure compliance with Loss Prevention directives and minimize operational shortage.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly, courteous manner.
- Recognize and treat all associates and customers with respect and professionalism at all times.
- Train and educate associates on shortage reduction initiatives and proper checkout procedures.
- Gather theft indicators and use internal or external intelligence to impact shortage trends, effectively communicating findings to Store Leadership and Loss Prevention Leadership.
- High School education or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.
- One year retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
- One year loss prevention/security training preferred.
- Active Security Guard License preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with the store team.
- Excellent customer service skills and proven ability to effectively resolve conflict.
- Must comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations for security positions, including background screening, physical examination, fingerprinting, or drug and alcohol testing.
- Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Must be able to lift or lower objects more than 25 lbs. from one level to another (includes upward pulling).
- Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, or crouch (frequency and duration will vary per daily business need).
