General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow associates with respect, follows all company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate performs a range of tasks across all store areas and may be requested to perform additional tasks as business needs require.

Essential

Functions
  • Prioritise safety, maintain a clutter‑free sales floor, and report unsafe conditions.
  • Greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly hello; say thank you on each transaction.
  • Assist customers at all registers, answer questions politely, and provide prompt help with complaints.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, restocking restrooms, disinfecting high‑touch areas) to keep the store neat and safe.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company dress code.
  • Expedite new merchandise receipts to the sales floor, merchandising per monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Understand and follow the Loss Prevention Awareness program and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguard confidential, cash, and credit‑card information and protect merchandise integrity.
  • Follow all cash, check, charge‑card, and refund transaction policies; maintain accuracy with bankable tenders.
  • Execute store best practices efficiently, minimising steps and touches in workflow.

Qualifications & Special Skills
  • Communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, and cooperative manner.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in a retail environment.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment (PDTs, registers, PC) as required.
  • Stand, walk, and move around the store full time.
  • Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25 lbs occasionally (up to 20 lbs for stockroom shifts).
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
