Job Description

As the Crew Foreman, you will be responsible for directly supervising and coordinating the activities of field employees while working on the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of utility lines and structures, including water, sewer, gas, electric, and communication systems. In addition, the Crew Foreman provides leadership to crew members and is responsible for safety administration, job documentation, training, equipment operation, and ensuring the consistent and fair application of all GUCI policies and procedures.

This position reports to the Superintendent.

Prerequisites,

Preferred Qualifications & Requirements

The following is a list of essential skills and qualifications for this position:

  • High School Diploma or higher education required.
  • College and/or trade school degree or certificate preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Foreman or Crew Manager, 5-10 years preferred.
  • Working knowledge of various aspects of underground utility construction practices including codes, specifications, contracts, safety, equipment, and technology.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, drawings, specifications, manuals, and schematics.
  • Strong work ethic, leadership, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record with expectation to travel to project sites throughout the state as necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Moderate technological knowledge required.
  • OSHA 30 Certified and basic First Aid/CPR training preferred.
  • Willingness to complete additional training and continuing education as necessary.
  • Pass pre-employment and random drug screening throughout employment.
  • Essential Functions

    The following is a list of essential functions:

  • Read, interpret, and review construction drawings and blueprints.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods to increase efficiency and safety.
  • Assist Superintendent in planning and scheduling the work of your crew.
  • Advise Superintendent of your needs for crew members, materials, and equipment.
  • Organize and direct crew members, materials, and equipment to achieve productivity and quality while maintaining safe work practices.
  • Accurately record and report equipment and material use; work production; and employee work hours on Daily Report form.
  • Continuously monitor quality output of crew members.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and materials throughout project.
  • Suggest and initiate personnel actions, such as promotions or terminations.
  • Handle employee concerns and complaints, conflicts, and performance issues.
  • Train crew members on construction procedures and operation of equipment.
  • Complete all necessary project documentation and submit as required.
  • Follow all policies and procedures of GUCI.
  • Compensation

    Starting at $27.50 per hour.
