Ameresco is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Level 3 DDC (Direct Digital Control) Controls Technician to join our team around Tampa Florida, and the surrounding areas, such as Manatee, South and Central Florida. This position is responsible for independently leading and executing complex commercial building automation projects from installation through programming, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and closeout. The Level 3 Controls Technician serves as a senior technical resource for the Controls Team, providing field leadership, mentoring junior technicians, coordinating with other trades, and working directly with customers and project stakeholders.
This individual must possess a strong understanding of DDC systems, HVAC equipment, electrical systems, networking, and building automation protocols, with the ability to identify and resolve complex system issues.
** Responsibilities:
*** Independently lead and execute DDC control system installation, programming, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and closeout for complex commercial projects.
* Interpret project drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, and control submittals to develop and implement functional control solutions.
* Program and configure DDC controllers, supervisory devices, graphics, and peripheral equipment using platforms such as Reliable, Niagara, Tridium, or equivalent.
* Develop and implement control logic and sequences that support system reliability, energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and proper equipment operation.
* Perform point-to-point checkout, functional testing, system startup, commissioning, and performance verification.
* Troubleshoot complex controls issues involving controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, relays, networks, communication protocols, and equipment interfaces.
* Identify whether system deficiencies are related to controls, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, networking, TAB, startup, or other trades, and coordinate appropriate corrective action.
* Troubleshoot and support BACnet, Modbus, Lon Works, and other building automation communication networks, including both MS/TP and IP-based systems.
* Coordinate directly with mechanical contractors, electricians, TAB contractors, equipment manufacturers, IT personnel, commissioning agents, project managers, engineers, and customers.
* Review control drawings, wiring diagrams, sequences, specifications, and equipment documentation for accuracy and constructability.
* Provide field direction and technical guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 Controls Technicians.
* Train and mentor junior technicians in controls installation, wiring, programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and industry best practices.
