Director of Engineering

At Kohls, the best Director of Engineering isn't the one who writes the most code but the one whose REST API decisions age the gracefully. Lay it bare: remote Director of Engineering, $188,000 - $264,000, 10 years of Webpack, and a seat where Kohls decisions get shaped.

• Pull Kohls's Initiative stack out of the FL region before the migration deadline
• Drive the Express.js incident postmortem that stops the St. Petersburg outage from recurring
• Prototype proof-of-concept solutions for emerging technology requirements
• Mentor the director cohort through their first real Google Cloud on-call at Kohls
• Own data integrity across Kohls's PostgreSQL stores so St. Petersburg numbers never lie
• Read the Initiative stack traces others skim past, and trace bugs to their root
• Pair with cross-functional partners to scope and deliver remote projects
• Set the Initiative coding standards the rest of Kohls engineering follows

• The instinct to ask "what would change your mind?" before debating
• A point of view on Kohls's space, sharpened by your own reading
• Proven Laravel results, ideally seasoned in St. Petersburg, FL
• Real REST API chops, plus the Accountability curiosity to keep growing
• The kind of reliability that earns you the hard assignments
• Willingness to commute to St. Petersburg, FL or work flexibly as needed

Long before technology was fashionable, Kohls was already solving it for businesses scattered across FL. Respect for your craft and your life outside it sits at the core of how Kohls operates.

With $188,000 - $264,000 as the anchor, expect mentorship, a benefits package worth bragging about, and the latitude to work remote-first.

Pulled forward to the top of the queue today, so your timing is good.
