Maritime Recruitment Leader | Master Mariner | Head HuntressThe duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Operational Support- Provide daily operational support to the Marine Superintendent for assigned vessels.
- Monitor vessel movements, voyage progress, and schedule compliance.
- Assist with voyage planning, including load and discharge sequencing, stowage planning, and cargo-handling readiness.
- Support onboard deck and engineering leadership in operational decision-making.
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and tracking vessel maintenance and repair periods.
- Review technical reports, defect lists, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate with contractors, classification societies, and OEM vendors.
- Support procurement and logistics related to spares, stores, and critical equipment.
- Monitor vessel performance metrics as required.
- Support compliance with ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS, MLC, Flag State, Port State Control, Class, and other regulatory requirements.
- Participate in internal and external inspections (USCG, PSC, vetting, and class surveys).
- Assist in preparing Masters and Chief Engineers for audits and inspections.
- Review and maintain SMS documentation and safety procedures.
- Participate in incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Participate in crew safety meetings, performance discussions, and onboard evaluations.
- Verify crew certifications and readiness in coordination with the Crewing department.
- Provide operational guidance on safety, regulatory compliance, and company standards.
- Prepare and maintain vessel operational, maintenance, and compliance records.
- Develop analytical reports on vessel performance, inspection findings, and corrective actions.
- Support customer‑specific reporting for military or commercial partners.
- Work closely with Fleet Operations, Engineering/Technical, HSSQE, Crewing, Cargo Operations, and Commercial teams.
- Assist with operational risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support issue resolution during port calls, inspections, and unplanned operational events.
- 2–3 years of maritime or shipboard experience in a licensed deck or engine rating.
- Knowledge of vessel operations, maintenance, cargo handling, and marine regulatory requirements.
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to travel to vessels and port locations as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational reporting tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
- STCW Officer‑level license or equivalent shipboard experience (Second Officer or higher preferred).
- Experience with NSE software.
- Familiarity with RO/RO, breakbulk, heavy‑lift, or government cargo operations.
- Experience with inspection processes (PSC, Class, vetting) and SMS documentation.
- OSHA, Hazmat, or maritime safety training.
- Operational Awareness – Understands vessel operations, navigation fundamentals, and engineering principles.
- Safety Leadership – Promotes safe work practices, hazard identification, and regulatory compliance.
- Communication – Communicates effectively with shipboard personnel, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders.
- Problem Solving – Assists in resolving operational challenges and proposing effective solutions.
- Situational Judgment – Responds appropriately in dynamic and fast‑paced operational environments.
- Work is performed in office settings, aboard vessels, and within port/terminal environments.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions such as heat, humidity, wind, rain, and high noise levels.
- Occasional access to areas requiring climbing ladders, entering confined spaces, and navigating uneven surfaces.
- Travel required for port calls, dry‑dockings, inspections, and vessel support.
- Must be able to move safely throughout vessels, terminals, and shipyards.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs., and operate standard office equipment.
