We are hiring a Warehouse Associate (for the pipe yard) to join our team!Job Type: Full Time
What You'll Do- Pipe Yard (majority of responsibility)
- Receiving
- Receive pipe and conduit
- Prepare pipe and conduit bundles for shipping orders
- Read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, packing slips, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Mark materials with identifying information.
- Open bales, crates, and other containers.
- Verify and record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
- Drive equipment to transport items within the warehouse.
- Use computer to enter records.
- Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Put Away
- Sort and place material or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, style, or product code.
- Sort and store stocked goods in warehouse.
- Mark materials with identifying information.
- Weigh or count items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Picking
- Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to customers and sales.
- Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves or convey orders to packing station or shipping department.
- Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Packing
- Read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Verify the product that has been picked and document discrepancies on an error log, then correctly re‑pick the product.
- Confirm tickets.
- Use computer to enter records.
- Loading
- Consolidate freight for shipping.
- Load trucks for delivery to customers.
- Routing
- Facilitate and distribute shipping tickets.
- Verify shipping method.
- Manage delayed release tickets.
- Communicate oversize loads to freight carriers.
- Inspect and maintain printing equipment.
- Ensure shipping routes are maintained.
- Education and/or
Experience:- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or
- Three months or more of related experience and/or training; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units to measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, the Internet.
- Previous forklift/cherry picker experience.
- Basic safety knowledge (i.e., proper lifting techniques, etc.).
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and slide packages that typically weigh up to 75 lbs.
- Frequently requires standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching with arms, and constant use of hands.
- Continuous mental and visual alertness to maintain safety and achieve accuracy.
- Requires flexibility and mobility in body movements.
- Occasionally, it may be required to lift items greater than 75 lbs. with assistance.
