English Teacher | Specialist SEMH Provision

Location: Tamworth

Salary: £32,433 - £42,352 (Dependent on experience)

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (Part-time options available)

We are seeking a resilient, empathetic, and innovative English Teacher to join a specialised secondary provision in Tamworth. This isn't a "chalk and talk" environment; this is a school where your creativity and emotional intelligence will help re-engage young people who have faced significant barriers to learning.

In this position, you will move away from the rigid constraints of mainstream schooling to focus on high-impact, individualised learning. You will lead the English curriculum across KS3, KS4, and KS5, guiding students through Functional Skills and GCSE pathways.

Your focus will be to:

• Deliver trauma-informed lessons using the PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) model.

• Adapt your teaching style for students with SEMH needs, ASD, ADHD, and complex histories.

• Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to meet EHCP outcomes.

• Foster a classroom environment where students feel safe enough to fail and brave enough to try again.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): You must be a fully qualified teacher with a passion for literacy.

  Ideally, you have worked within a specialist provision or have a proven track record of supporting students with challenging behaviours and complex needs.

• Resilience: You understand that "bad days" happen and possess the emotional regulation to support students through them.

• Flexibility: You can pivot a lesson plan on a dime to follow a student's interest or manage their emotional state.
