Multi Trades Recruitment is working on behalf of a large national main contractor delivering major infrastructure works in partnership with National Grid. We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support works on the Apollo Substation project.
Project Overview
The Apollo Substation is a 400/132kV facility forming part of a major development led by This Is Gravity, which includes the construction of a large data centre and electric vehicle battery factory.
The site is currently in the mobilisation phase, with significant civil engineering works underway. This role will focus specifically on the power engineering and substation elements of the project. The wider project is scheduled to run through to 2029, offering strong potential for long-term opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of substation engineering works on the Apollo project.
* Coordinate across multiple work packages including civils and power infrastructure.
* Assist in planning, logistics, and project scheduling activities.
* Work closely with project management teams and contractors to ensure works are delivered safely and efficiently.
* Provide technical support and oversight relating to substation and power engineering activities.
* Act with a project-wide mindset, similar to an Assistant Project Manager, ensuring coordination between disciplines.
Candidate Requirements
Due to the specialist nature of the project, candidates must have strong substation experience, ideally on National Grid projects.
Candidates must hold at least one of the following:
* Earthing Application Person (EAP)
* Earthing Control Person (ECP)
* Low Voltage Authorised Person (LVAP)
Ideal Candidate
* Proven experience working on National Grid or high-voltage substation projects.
* Ability to coordinate multiple engineering packages rather than focusing on a single task.
* Strong understanding of substation power systems and project delivery.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Additional Information
* Start Date:
2nd March
* Contract Duration:
Until December (with potential extension)
* Hours:
45 per week
* No planned evenings or weekend work
If you are an experienced Project Engineer with substation expertise looking to join a major UK infrastructure project, we would like to hear from you.
