We have an exciting opportunity to join the business in the role of Payroll & Benefits Administrator. You will play a key role within our small dedicated Finance team based at our Head Office in Tamworth town centre.
The role reports directly into our Deputy CEO / Head of Finance and is being offered on a part-time basis, 24 hours per week across 4 days.
You will manage all aspects of our 4 – weekly payroll for approximately 220 colleagues as well as managing a small monthly payroll. You will also be responsible for benefits administration, in particular in relation to pensions and will take the lead in this area. You will have a great opportunity to contribute to business improvement through reviewing and implementing changes to our current processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Process payroll end to end, ensuring accuracy and timely payments
- Check and validate timesheets, overtime, and additional payments
- Calculate salaries, overtime, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP) and
- deductions
- Maintain employee payroll records, including starters, leavers, and changes
- Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, including PAYE, National Insurance,
- and Pension
- Compliance with auto-enrolment pension processes
- Handle payroll and benefits queries from colleagues
- Year-end processes including P60s and P11
Ds where applicable - Reconcile payroll reports and investigate discrepancies
- Support payroll audits and any reporting requirements
- Prepare and export payroll data using MS Excel.
- Processing payroll on Sage Payroll
- To proactively look for opportunities to make process improvements to drive
- efficiency and take steps to implement.
- Processing of other benefits and related administration e.g. Voluntary Health Cash

- To be flexible to provide support across the wider finance team as required
In order to be shortlisted for the next stage in the selection process you will demonstrate within your application how you meet the following essential criteria:
- Previous experience of processing payroll
- Strong payroll knowledge
- Strong IT Skills including Excel
- Experience with payroll / HRIS systems and reporting
Previous experience of using Sage Payroll is desirable but not essential as is experience of implementing process improvements.
