Head of Designer for New Initiatives Brands

MDS Retailing is looking for a passionate and commercially minded Head Designer to lead the creative direction and product design strategy for our New Initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fashion design leader who can combine creativity, trend awareness, consumer insights, and commercial thinking to create relevant and marketable collections for the Indonesian fashion market.

Key responsibilities

Lead the creative direction and seasonal collection development for New Initiatives.

Define collection themes, color palettes, silhouettes, fabrics, and key design directions aligned with target consumers.

Lead the end-to-end design process from trend research and concept development through product finalization and production.

Translate global and local fashion trends, consumer preferences, and competitor insights into commercially relevant collections.

Drive new product and collection development, identifying opportunities across categories and consumer segments.

Partner closely with Merchandising, Planning & Allocation, Sourcing, Quality, Marketing, and Visual Merchandising to ensure strong commercial execution.

Balance creativity with commercial objectives, including sales, gross margin, and collection performance.

Work closely with suppliers and vendors to explore new fabrics, materials, trims, and product innovations.

Lead, coach, and develop the design team while fostering a creative, collaborative, and high-performance culture.

About you

Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.

7–10+ years of fashion design experience, including at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.

Proven experience in developing and launching successful fashion collections, preferably within fashion retail.

Strong understanding of fashion trends, consumer behavior, fabrics, colors, silhouettes, and product development.

Strong creative and conceptual capability combined with a commercial mindset.

Experience leading and developing a team of designers.

Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.

Passionate about building new fashion concepts and translating ideas into commercially successful products.
