The SMT Engineering Coordinator/Supervisor will plan, organize, direct, and coordinate production engineering activities in a fast-paced Tier 1 automotive facility. The facility operates 3 shifts per day, 5 days per week with weekend overtime as needed. Direct reports for this position include engineers and maintenance associates. This position will focus on new model activity and daily mass production support.

Job Summary
  • Responsible for managing manufacturing processes related to surface mount technology, SPI, AOI, screen printing, x-ray and reflow oven processes.
  • Responsible for making sound business decisions, exercising good judgement and being highly motivated.
  • Recommend and/or lead implementation of cost saving and reduction strategies.
  • Direct personnel and coordinate daily production support activities to ensure quality and integrity of product.
  • Responsible for developing and/or assisting with creating and maintaining technical documentation (WI’s, PM’s, POS’s, etc.)
  • Responsible for providing support of new product build and equipment selection.
  • Responsible for driving activities for OEE, Scrap, Yield and DPMO improvement to support plant performance metrics.
  • Responsible for providing support of scrap reduction efforts through problem solving and process optimization.
  • Advanced manufacturing line problem solving related to manufacturing process related defects.
  • Responsible for driving Lean Manufacturing Initiatives through basic TPM, Kaizen and Lean methods.
  • Responsible for providing support of Customer Audits and Visits through knowledge and process sharing.
  • Responsible for creating and/or assisting with daily, weekly, monthly department reports and presentations.
  • Work with cross-functional departments
  • Responsible for creating, monitoring, updating, and completing staff evaluations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education
  • 2-year Technical College Degree in Related Field
Experience
  • 5+ years in SMT environment
  • Understanding of SMT component package types and typical markings
  • Familiar with SMT packaging and IPC Standards
  • Experienced with BOM reviews and component research
  • Experienced with Gerber data using Graphic Code GCPrevu or similar software
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing concepts & techniques
  • Strong mechanical aptitude including strong troubleshooting skills
  • Able to read schematics/drawing and create comprehensive work instructions
  • Strong data analysis skills and ability to use data to drive continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of computer systems (specifically Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint) to perform and present analysis for necessary job duties.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to create and present concepts to internal teams and all levels of management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel & PowerPoint & Word
Supervisory Responsibilities

Will supervise technical support staff (engineering, maintenance & dispatchers).
