Position Overview
  • Deliver targeted training and mentoring to Nutrition and Sanitation Clerks across sites.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess kitchen operations, sanitation practices, and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Develop and implement professional development plans to elevate staff capacity and retention.
  • Serve as a floating support resource to fill temporary staffing gaps and ensure uninterrupted food service.
  • Model ergonomic and safe kitchen practices to promote staff wellness and reduce injury risk.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to improve workflows and sanitation protocols.
  • Monitor and support adherence to USDA guidelines and local health regulations.
  • Assist in onboarding new nutrition and sanitation staff and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Participate in expansion planning to ensure new campuses are equipped with compliant and efficient food service operations.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting related to training, compliance, and staff development.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that support holistic, developmentally appropriate nutrition and sanitation practices.
  • Associates degree,Bachelor'sdegree, NDTRcertification, OR Certified Dietary Manager Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in food service, sanitation, or early childhood program operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in training, mentoring, or staff development.

    Valid food handler certificate and health card required.
  • Strong knowledge of USDA guidelines, sanitation protocols, and Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Ability to travel between sites as needed.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Preferred experience in scratch or speed-scratch cooking on a large scale
  • Must meet all health and safety requirements, including:
    • Passing a pre-employment and/or periodic physical exam
    • Annual TB screening
    • Background checkand renewals as required
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to frequently walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to twist, turn, kneel, bend, and stoop.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to monitor children’s safety in activities when needed.
