Accounts Senior

Location: Taunton (Office-based role)
Salary: £35,000 £ 38,000 (depending on experience)
Hours: Full-time preferred (part-time considered)

We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Practice Accountant to join a friendly and growing accountancy practice in Taunton. This is a varied, hands-on role that would suit someone with all-round practice experience who enjoys working closely with clients and being part of a small, collaborative team.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for a broad portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality accounting and taxation services while building strong client relationships.

There is genuine scope for progression within the firm for the right individual.

• Prepare year-end accounts for a varied portfolio of clients.

• Prepare personal and business tax returns.

• Complete bookkeeping and VAT returns.

• Process client payrolls and respond to payroll queries.

• Support clients with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements and compliance.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing advice and support where appropriate.

• Liaise with HMRC and other third parties as required.

• Assist with the smooth day-to-day running of client portfolios and support the wider practice team.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.

• Strong all-round knowledge of accounts, taxation, bookkeeping and payroll.

• Experience working directly with clients and confidence managing client relationships.

• Good understanding of Making Tax Digital (MTD).

• Ideally qualified to AAT level (or qualified by experience).

• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

• A proactive, team-focused approach with the ability to work independently.

• Salary of £35,000 £ 38,000 depending on experience.

• Full-time role preferred, although part-time applicants will be considered.

• Office-based working in Taunton.
