Job Description – Site Supervisor (Highways)

Role: Site Supervisor
Location: Taunton
Type: Contract
Duration: 4–6 months
Rate: £280.00 – £290.00 per day

We are currently seeking an experienced Site Supervisor for a highways project based in Taunton
. The role will focus on the delivery of highways works, Section 278 schemes and deep drainage
, overseeing site activities and ensuring works are completed safely, to specification and programme.

• Supervise day‑to‑day site activities across highways, Section 278 and deep drainage works
• Coordinate gangs, subcontractors and plant to ensure efficient workflow
• Ensure works are carried out in line with drawings, specifications and programme
• Manage health & safety on site, including RAMS, permits and site briefings
• Oversee quality of works and ensure compliance with project requirements
• Liaise with Site Management, Engineers and subcontractors to resolve issues
• Maintain site records, daily diaries and progress reporting
• Support inspections, testing and handover activities

• Proven experience as a Site Supervisor on highways or infrastructure projects
• Strong background in S278 works and deep drainage
• Sound knowledge of highways construction standards and procedures
• Ability to supervise works safely and effectively on live sites
• SSSTS or SMSTS preferred
• CSCS required

• £280.00 – £290.00 per day
• 4–6 months duration
• Ongoing scope depending on performance and programme
