An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading infrastructure contractor delivering a major 5-year capital delivery programme for South West Water across Somerset.
This role offers the chance to take commercial ownership of a varied portfolio of water infrastructure projects whilst working within a well-established and growing civil engineering business with a strong reputation in the utilities sector.
Working closely with operational teams, the successful Quantity Surveyor will manage projects through the full commercial lifecycle – from procurement and subcontract management through to final account – with a strong emphasis on NEC contract administration, commercial performance, and client engagement.
This is an ideal opportunity for a commercially driven QS who enjoys managing multiple schemes in a fast-paced environment and is looking to progress their career within a long-term framework.
The RoleAs Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:
- Full commercial management of multiple infrastructure and capital works projects
- Administration of NEC contracts, including compensation events and change management
- Cost forecasting, CVR production, and financial reporting
- Procurement and management of subcontractors
Supporting operational teams to maximise project profitability and performance - Building and maintaining strong working relationships with both client and delivery teams
- Mentoring and supporting a Graduate Quantity Surveyor
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, utilities, water, or civil engineering
- Strong working knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts
- Experience managing multiple projects concurrently
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- The ability to work collaboratively within project and client-facing environments
- A proactive and organised approach to commercial management
- Basic salary of £46,000 – £60,000
- £5,000 car allowance
