SEN Tutor

Overview

Quantum Scholars is looking for a caring, patient and experienced SEN Tutor to support children and young people in and around Taunton, Somerset. This in‑person tuition role is usually delivered in the learner’s home or a suitable community setting.

• Provide 1:1 in‑person tuition for children and young people in Taunton and surrounding areas
• Support learners with Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), ADHD, ASD and associated SEMH needs
• Travel to pupils’ homes and/or suitable community settings
• Plan and deliver personalised learning sessions using creative, practical and interest‑led approaches
• Help learners build confidence, routines and positive learning habits
• Support academic progress at a pace appropriate for each learner
• Adapt sessions to suit each learner’s needs, ability and emotional readiness
• Work professionally with parents/carers and relevant professionals
• Keep brief records of session content, attendance, engagement and progress

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs
• Strong understanding of EBSA, ADHD and ASD
• A calm, patient, nurturing and flexible approach
• Ability to build positive relationships with learners who may find education challenging
• Ability to plan engaging, personalised learning sessions
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Clear commitment to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for children and young people
• Legal right to work in the UK

• Ability to travel to in‑person tuition sessions in and around Taunton
• Right to work in the UK (all applicants must possess or be willing to obtain the necessary legal status)
• Enhanced DBS certificate and suitable references
• Qualified Teacher Status is highly desirable, particularly for referrals requiring a qualified teacher

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. This is not an online tutoring role and applicants must be available for face‑to‑face tuition in Taunton and the surrounding areas.
