Rural Town Planner
Location:
Taunton
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected rural property and planning consultancy in their search for a Rural Town Planner to join their team in Taunton.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Rural Town Planner to join a growing consultancy working across a varied portfolio of rural, residential, agricultural, and estate development projects. The successful candidate will benefit from strong client exposure and the opportunity to work on a broad range of planning matters within a supportive and collaborative environment.
THE ROLE
As a Rural Town Planner, you will be involved in delivering planning projects from initial appraisal through to submission and determination, with a particular focus on rural and countryside developments.
You will work closely with landowners, rural businesses, and private clients, providing planning advice across a wide variety of schemes while continuing to build your expertise as a Rural Town Planner within a respected consultancy environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Managing planning applications and appeals for rural and countryside developments
* Preparing high-quality planning reports and supporting documentation
* Undertaking site appraisals and feasibility assessments
* Advising on agricultural, rural diversification, and estate projects
* Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and key stakeholders
* Attending client meetings, consultations, and site visits
* Supporting wider project delivery across rural and residential schemes
* Contributing to business development and client relationship management
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
* RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
* MRTPI qualified or working towards Chartership
* Experience with in a planning consultancy or rural property environment
* Interest or experience in rural and agricultural planning matters
* Strong understanding of the UK planning system
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong organisational and client-facing abilities
* A proactive and commercially aware approach
