Location: Taunton
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected rural property and planning consultancy in their search for a Rural Town Planner to join their team in Taunton.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Rural Town Planner to join a growing consultancy working across a varied portfolio of rural, residential, agricultural, and estate development projects. The successful candidate will benefit from strong client exposure and the opportunity to work on a broad range of planning matters within a supportive and collaborative environment.
THE ROLE
As a Rural Town Planner, you will be involved in delivering planning projects from initial appraisal through to submission and determination, with a particular focus on rural and countryside developments.
You will work closely with landowners, rural businesses, and private clients, providing planning advice across a wide variety of schemes while continuing to build your expertise as a Rural Town Planner within a respected consultancy environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing planning applications and appeals for rural and countryside developments
Preparing high-quality planning reports and supporting documentation
Undertaking site appraisals and feasibility assessments
Advising on agricultural, rural diversification, and estate projects
Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and key stakeholders
Attending client meetings, consultations, and site visits
Supporting wider project delivery across rural and residential schemes
Contributing to business development and client relationship management
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
MRTPI qualified or working towards Chartership
Experience with in a planning consultancy or rural property environment
Interest or experience in rural and agricultural planning matters
Strong understanding of the UK planning system
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational and client-facing abilities
A proactive and commercially aware approach
