Clinical Lead, Nursing

About the Role:

As Clinical Lead, you will oversee clinical governance and quality assurance across the home, ensuring safe, evidence-based practice and consistently high standards of care. You will provide visible leadership to the nursing and care team, supporting best practice in dementia care and driving service development in line with regulatory requirements. Working closely with the Home Manager, you will contribute to strategic planning, clinical risk management, and ongoing improvement of resident outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and coordinate the clinical team, providing day-to-day oversight of nursing practice and care delivery within the dementia care home.

* Implement and monitor robust clinical governance and quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with CQC and other regulatory standards.

* Conduct regular clinical audits, reviews, and evaluations, and develop action plans to address identified areas for improvement.

* Manage clinical risk effectively, including incident reporting, investigation, and learning, to maintain a safe environment for residents and staff.

* Oversee care planning and clinical assessments, ensuring person-centred, evidence-based care for elderly residents with dementia and complex needs.

* Provide professional support, supervision, and mentorship to nursing and care staff, promoting continuous learning and development.

* Collaborate with the Home Manager on strategic service planning, contributing clinical insight to staffing, resource allocation, and service development.

* Act as a key clinical point of contact for residents, families, and external professionals, ensuring effective communication and coordinated care.

Key Requirements:

* Current NMC registration as a Registered General Nurse (RGN).

* Proven experience in a senior clinical or leadership role within a nursing home or similar elderly care setting.

* Strong background in clinical governance and quality assurance within a regulated care environment.

* Demonstrable experience in clinical risk management, including incident handling and implementation of corrective actions.

* Effective leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coordinate, motivate, and develop nursing and care staff.

* Solid understanding of dementia care, elderly care, and complex clinical needs in a care home context.

* Confident decision-making ability with a proactive approach to problem-solving and service improvement.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build professional relationships with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable

Skills:

* Experience working as a Clinical Lead or equivalent in a dementia-specific nursing home.

* Background in strategic service planning, including involvement in service development or change projects.

* Familiarity with audit tools, quality improvement methodologies, and data-driven clinical performance monitoring.

* Experience supporting or working within organisations offering sponsorship and relocation.

* Training or experience in advanced dementia care techniques or specialist elderly care interventions.

Qualifications:

* Registered General Nurse (RGN) qualification – required.

* Valid NMC registration in the UK – required.

* Post-registration training or certification in dementia care or elderly care – desirable.

* Leadership, management, or clinical governance-related training or qualification – desirable.

* Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to clinical leadership and quality assurance – desirable.
