We are looking for a Quality Inspector
Pay: £28,500 a year
Location:
Wellington, Somerset
Immediate start
Shift: Monday - Thursday 09.00 - 18.00 (inc ½ hour unpaid lunch break) Friday #removed# (no lunch break) Total 39 hours per week.

JDR is recruiting for a Quality Inspector to work in a manufacturing company in Wellington, Somerset.
The roleAs a Quality Inspector you will be working within a manufacturing environment, and your duties will be as followed:
In-Process Inspection & Verification- Verify operators are performing first-off and last-off inspections and ensure results are documented correctly and consistently
- Confirm operators complete daily check sheets, route card entries, and traceability records.
- Check correct use, condition, and calibration status
- Ensure operators are following SOPs, control plans, and safe systems of work.
- Collect and record critical-to-quality (CTQ) measurements and production data.
- Ensure inspection records are accurate, legible, and completed in real time.
- Report non-conformance's to Line Manager or Production Supervisors.
- Support the consistent roll out of best practice across all processes.
- Support SPC data collection if required by the process.
- Inspect finished parts for visual, dimensional, and functional conformity.
- Verify correct part identification, labels, packaging, and box identification prior to dispatch.
- Ensure raw materials, WIP, and finished products are correctly identified and segregated for traceability.
- Ensure any NC Raw Material is identified, contained, and charged back to the supplier via Purchase reject note.
- Confirm labels are applied correctly, securely, and in the correct orientation.
- Ensure packaging materials meet customer specifications and internal standards.
- Actively monitor and support day-to-day EHS practices, including safe working behaviours, housekeeping, and compliance with risk assessments and method statements.
- Raise immediate concerns related to safety, quality, or process deviations.
- Ensure adherence to control plans, PFMEAs, work instructions, and HSE requirements.
- Support containment, controlled shutdowns, and corrective actions during quality or safety incidents.
- Assist in root cause analysis (5 Why, Ishikawa, etc.) for quality and process failures.
- Support and deliver quality-related and safety-related training where required.
Be target-driven, with a clear focus on reducing:
- Internal rejections
- External rejections and customer complaints
- Scrap, rework, and handling costs
- Identify and propose opportunities to improve process control, operator compliance, quality performance, and safety.
- Provide structured feedback on recurring issues, skill gaps, or training needs.
- Participate in internal audits, CI projects, and implementation of 5S, standardisation, and error-proofing activities.
As a Quality Inspector you will have the following skills and experience:
- Start immediately and looking for permanent work
- Previous experience in quality inspection, quality control, or production auditing.
- Competent use of measurement and inspection tools.
- Understanding of traceability, non-conformance control, and quality documentation.
- Attention to detail
- Able to identify and prevent non-conforming product moving through the manufacturing process stopping production if necessary.
- Able to identify and stop unsafe working practices.
- Able to report quality and EHS concerns and make recommendations to prevent a reoccurrence
- Able to make recommendations for quality & EHS improvement
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive inspection mindset.
- Confident decision-making and defect identification.
- Comfortable challenging unsafe or non-compliant behaviours in a constructive manner.
- Competent in data entry and record keeping, with the ability to spot trends and recurring issues.
- Able to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Formal training in ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949.
- Experience with SPC, control plans, PFMEA, APQP, or continuous improvement tools.
- NVQ, BTEC, or equivalent qualification in Engineering or Manufacturing.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 and core IATF 16949 principles (control plans, traceability, non-conformance, containment).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications.
- Knowledge of SOPs, route cards, work orders, and manufacturing documentation.
- Understanding of packaging standards, labelling requirements, and traceability systems.
- Awareness of HSE requirements in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent Hourly Rates
- Pension: 4% employer 4% employee increases to 6% & 4% after 5 years
