The Metrologist will support the manufacturing consolidation and production transfer initiative by ensuring accurate dimensional measurement, method development, and data analysis necessary for transfer approval, validation, and production release of Class I and Class II medical device components.
You will work in fast‑paced cross‑functional teams to maintain and support manufacturing process engineering methodologies, systems, and practices that meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role requires up to 50% travel on an as‑needed basis.
What You'll Do- Perform dimensional inspections to support equipment, tooling, and product transfer approvals.
- Execute measurement plans supporting validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), PPQ, and production release.
- Ensure conformance to customer specifications and documented transfer requirements.
- Operate advanced metrology equipment including CT Scanner (Zeiss), CMM, VMM / Optical Systems, and precision hand measurement tools.
- Develop, validate, and document inspection methods and measurement strategies.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret dimensional data.
- Prepare inspection reports and summary data for internal and customer review.
- Identify trends, risks, and process variation related to transferred products.
- Coordinate with third‑party metrology and calibration service providers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Metrology, Life Sciences, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in medical device manufacturing, product development, or technology transfer.
- Experience in metrology within a regulated medical device environment.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection techniques.
- Hands‑on experience with CMM, VMM, CT scanning, and precision instruments.
- Experience supporting multi‑site manufacturing transfers or consolidation projects.
- Familiarity with injection molding, extrusion, or secondary operations.
- Experience with Class I and Class II medical devices.
- Ability to travel between manufacturing sites as needed.
- Experience with plastics processing, such as molding and/or extrusion – a must.
