Summary
Responsible for diagnostic and treatment services for clients of all ages with speech and language impairments, hearing disorders, and dysphagia. Maintains a level of clinical productivity commensurate with departmental standards. - Administers, diagnoses, interprets evaluations based on standard/recommended techniques and pertinent background information.
- Communicates evaluation results and recommendations clearly and in a manner aligned with patient surveys.
- Addresses and prioritizes treatment goals in a creative/functional manner within therapy sessions to facilitate progress.
- Adapts standard methods of evaluation/treatment to elicit relevant and functional data when necessary.
- Establishes and maintains a therapeutic relationship with the client/family member and uses reinforcement to encourage appropriate behavior.
- Maintains reasonable expectations of clients, family members and other professionals cognizant of functional limitations.
- Maintains regular communication with the client and caregivers concerning treatment techniques, goals, home programs and discharge transition to support carryover of progress.
- Writes diagnostic evaluations and treatment progress reports in a clear, concise, and accurate manner within departmental time frames.
- Organizes and achieves quality performance in new routines, procedures and skills; adapts to change.
- Maintains a minimum standard of productivity per center policy and adjusts schedule with fluctuations in client workload.
- Accepts emergency/priority clients as assigned and responds to workload changes by accepting additional evaluations or scheduling adjustments.
- Utilizes downtime for documentation, self-education and department projects.
- Participates in or leads departmental projects (community service, in services, health fairs, performance improvement) to support department growth.
- Communicates constructively with coworkers and supervisors; seeks innovative solutions to day-to-day problems.
- Ensures billing duties are completed promptly and accurately; enforces cancellation/timeliness policies with clients and terminates treatment appropriately when needed.
- Completes work assignments within an acceptable time frame; uses time and resources efficiently; develops and maintains effective working relationships.
- Maintains reliability in attendance and punctuality; values teamwork and collaborates to achieve positive outcomes.
- Experience with pediatric and adult populations.
- Demonstrates ongoing development of work skills through in services, formal educational programs, other work groups and on-the-job training.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and in services; reviews documentation as required.
- Assists in the orientation of others and participates in mentoring.
- Performs analytical and decision-making functions with minimal supervision; recognizes when to seek assistance/consultation.
- Understands and can apply relative Hospital and all-departmental policies and procedures including safety issues; aware of programs/services provided by Hospital and their locations.
Master s Degree in Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology; ASHA Certification/eligibility (CFY);
Mass State License/eligibility.
