The Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP), operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH), is seeking self-motivated individuals to provide direct care to clients, including, but not limited to individual counseling, group facilitation, lectures, and orientation for new clients including discharge and aftercare planning. The selected candidate(s) will provide clinical treatment to assigned clients individually and in groups, and champion behaviors that recognize the human rights of clients.

Please Note:

The selected candidate(s) will work 40 hours per week from 8:30AM – 5:00PM. The days off are Sunday and Monday.

  • Provides individual and family counseling, group facilitation, lectures, orientation for new clients, and case management of clients assigned.
  • Completes all required assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, biopsychosocial assessments, discharge summaries, etc., within required time frames.
  • Collaborates with Aftercare staff to determine aftercare needs and coordinate discharge process and aftercare services and needed referrals.
  • Facilitates psycho-educational, recovery, and treatment groups.
  • Participates in staff meetings, case conferences, educational conferences, mandatory trainings to enhance professional and personal growth.
  • Facilitates interdisciplinary Treatment Team Meetings.
  • Coordinates with Aftercare staff and Benefits Coordinator to establish client’s needs; follow-up on services; create service/support plans goals for rehabilitation and stabilization; plan the delivery of services; and support clients to the completion of services in coordination with aftercare services team.
  • Provides education to clients and families regarding MAT options as well as collaborates with existing MAT providers.
  • Provides clinical consultation to Recovery Treatment Workers.
  • Completes referral packets, works in partnership with the DMH Site and Area Offices, and identifies adults needing placement.
  • Conveys information and explains options to clients with varying expectations, needs, cultures, and languages and assists them in determining the best methods or actions to be initiated on their behalf.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to facilitate groups.
  • Demonstrated understanding of boundaries and ethics.
  • Understanding of the disease concept and evidence-based practices, current therapies and/or self-help programs used to treat addiction.
  • Skilled in recognizing the relationship between substance abuse and mental health issues including trauma and/or self-help programs.
  • Keen diagnostic, assessment skills and case management ability.
Program Requirements
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience working with clients with primary substance use disorders; knowledge of substance use and treatment systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional licensure in a human service field including, but not limited to LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, License Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
  • Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
About the Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP)

The Department of Mental Health (DMH) in collaboration with the Department of Public Health (DPH) Bureau of Substance Addiction Services operates a statewide Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP) for individuals civilly committed by the courts for substance use treatment for up to 90 days (“Section 35 commitment”). The program model will provide acute detoxification and early clinical stabilization services as we help clients develop community-based linkages to outpatient supports and substance use disorder treatment providers.

The individuals treated within this program will be linked upon discharge to a range of services within the DPH continuum of care for substance use conditions. RAP provides administrative, medical, clinical, and non-clinical services. Its mission to provide quality client-centered care and recovery-oriented treatment.
