Regional Clinical Coordinator, (Psychologist IV) Southeast Region
Massachusetts Department of Youth Services invites applications for the role of Regional Clinical Coordinator—Southeast Region. The successful candidate will develop and oversee the psychological services that Southeast Region DYS programs provide to youth in its care, serve as a senior staff member, and provide interagency consultation and planning.
Base Pay Range$/yr - $/yr
Responsibilities- Direct the psychological services provided to youth in DYS care, including diagnostic evaluations, counseling, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and planning.
- Ensure access and coordination of behavioral health services for youth residing in the community and assigned to District Offices.
- Review the psychological needs of youth detained or committed to the Southeast Region, supervise Clinical Directors, review critical incident data, develop treatment plans for high‑profile youth, and oversee referrals for specialized services.
- Evaluate assessment needs of detained youth, reviewing intake and screening processes for consistency with DYS policies.
- Analyze counseling services delivered to DYS youth in detention, lock‑secure treatment sites, and residential group programs for efficacy and consistency.
- Provide training to DYS clinical and administrative staff on topics such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), suicide prevention, sex offender and violent offender treatment, and family counseling services.
- Develop and maintain interagency collaborations within the Southeast Region to secure resources for treatment.
- Assist Community Reentry Staff in linking with Mass Health payers and network providers for access to services.
- Provide annual reports to the Regional Director and Director of Clinical Services, recommending program and policy improvements.
- Proficient in psychotherapy principles and developmental psychology, including techniques such as analytic, existential, nondirective, and behavior modification.
- Experience in counseling, motivation, reinforcement, and interviewing techniques.
- Ability to identify types and symptoms of mental and emotional disorders.
- Understanding of psychological research principles, statistical methods, and sampling techniques.
- Experience with assessments such as WAIS, WISC, Rorschach, and Thematic Apperception Test.
- Ability to administer, score, and interpret intelligence, aptitude, and personality tests.
- Strong communication, decision‑making, and stress‑management skills.
- Capacity to supervise staff, plan work, evaluate performance, and recommend disciplinary actions.
- Experience with juvenile/adult offender treatment in residential settings.
- Proven practice with adolescents and families, crisis stabilization and management.
- Knowledge of juvenile justice system, state laws, DBT, and CBT.
- Experience working with female adolescents.
- Clinical Psychology licensure.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to develop individualized treatment plans using diverse modalities.
- Knowledge of substance abuse assessment, suicide prevention/intervention.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel.
- Valid Clinical Psychology license.
- Minimum age: 21 years.
- Physical ability to restrain or subdue youth as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, run, kneel, climb stairs, and lift up to 55 lbs.
- Possession of a valid motor‑vehicle driver’s license as required by assignment.
- Completion of certification in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, CPR, AED, and first aid.
- Potential exposure to verbal/physical confrontations and dangerous environments.
- Required physical restraint of youth.
- Standard work week (five 7.5‑hour shifts); extended hours, nights, holidays, weekends may be required.
- Travel within-state and possible out‑of‑state assignment travel.
8:45 AM – 5:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday off
