Location: Plymouth (PL6) – with occasional travel to regional hubs

Salary: £45,514 + £13,185 Pension Contribution (Total Package: £58,699+)

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Lead and manage a dedicated portion of the Commercial Group, prioritizing activity to meet business objectives.
  • Market Engagement: Drive a competitive landscape by engaging with suppliers across the full procurement lifecycle—from pre‑market engagement to post‑contract award.
  • Compliance & Risk: Ensure all activities align with appropriate legislation, procurement regulations, and Government best practices.
  • Stakeholder Influence: Translate complex commercial decisions into relatable concepts for senior stakeholders, securing buy‑in for critical business needs.
  • Capability Building: Coach and develop colleagues to increase commercial capability across the organisation.
What You’ll Bring (Person Specification)
  • Professional Status: You hold (or are actively working towards)
    MCIPS or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Procurement Expertise: Proven experience in procuring goods/services and contract management within a complex environment.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: A solid understanding of Government Frameworks and Crown Commercial Service (CCS) guidelines.
  • Technical Skill: Proficiency in MS Excel and experience in presenting commercial training content.
  • Mindset: A strong customer focus, the ability to make robust decisions under pressure, and a proactive "ownership" approach to problem‑solving.
