The Pipeline Integrity Technician shall be trained and/or be able to locate, identify, and interpret pipeline flaws utilizing various NDE inspection methods at multiple locations throughout Energy Transfer’s operating area. The role will support state and federal compliance (including CFR DOT 192/195) and coordinate with Texas Railroad Commission regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Evaluate NDE compliance with API 5L, 1104, 1163, ASME, B31.4, B31.8, State Regulations (e.g., Texas Railroad Commission), and Federal regulations CFR DOT 192/195.
- Undergo formal training on NDE techniques such as Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particulate, Ultrasonics, Visual Testing, Creaform, AUT, Shearwave, PAUT, Eddyfi, and ToFD. Completion of the company’s training program is required.
- Demonstrate basic mathematical skills, ability to read/interpret technical manuals, and understanding of regulatory requirements for NDE.
- Maintain knowledge of company practices, construction standards, Integrity Management Plans and Company Standard Operating Procedures.
- Join third‑party contractors for in‑ditch inspections on pipeline integrity (IL inspection, verification, repair). Provide direct assessment and management of pipeline flaws.
- Follow the training schedule and documentation requirements for ASNT‑TC‑1a certification and Energy Transfer‑specific certification.
- If training completed, perform duties including overseeing third‑party contractors, maintaining records for audits, and reporting in accordance with company procedures and approved documentation.
- Assist in preserving knowledge of company and industry practices and support compliance with the pipeline integrity management plan.
- Ensure continuous learning on emerging NDE technologies and methods through both in‑house and apprenticeship training.
- Adhere to all legal and regulatory obligations, including EEO requirements for all applicants.
- Work environment includes frequent exposure to heat, cold, and other adverse weather conditions; occasional confined space operations and exposure to hazardous materials.
- Must adhere to occupational health and safety standards such as OSHA, MSHA, and industry‑specific guidelines.
- Requires a minimum of 2–4 years of relevant industry experience for intermediate levels and 4+ years for senior levels.
- All candidates must have a high school diploma or GED; proficiency in MS Office Suite is highly valued.
Work hours include full day shifts, overtime, and occasional night shifts to support pipeline operations and to accommodate project schedules and reporting requirements.
