Who We Are:Tommy’s Express Car Wash has been innovating the car wash industry for decades now, and the awards they’ve won prove it.
You'll see the difference the moment you pull in: the iconic building, the self-loading conveyor in a bright, open tunnel, environmentally friendly detergents that still hit hard, and state-of-the-art vacuums. It's a fast, modern operation, and it looks like it. Behind all of it is a crew that likes working together. We move quickly, we keep the site sharp, and we live by our WE OWN IT culture — if you see it, you handle it.
We're locally operated, and we love to promote from within: nearly all of our shift leads and managers started right where you'd be starting.
You don't need car wash experience, and you don't need a long resume. This is a great first job — or a great next one. Here's what actually matters:
- You're great with people. You'd rather greet a guest with a smile than avoid them.
- You'd rather be moving than sitting still. This job keeps you on your feet, indoors and outdoors.
- You show up. On time, ready to go, every shift you're scheduled.
- You're comfortable with technology — our point of sale, flight deck, and wash equipment are all screens and software.
- You notice things: a smudged window, a cone out of place, a guest who looks lost.
- You're a self-starter with a winning attitude who does your best on a busy day, not just an easy one.
- You're a team player who'll jump into whatever the shift needs.
- Give quick, friendly service to every guest — and then exceed what they expected.
- Act as cashier and learn every part of the point of sale and flight deck equipment.
- Safely load and guide vehicles onto the conveyor and keep the line moving.
- Monitor wash quality so cars come out right the first time.
- Introduce guests to our unlimited monthly wash club, and build the relationships that keep them coming back.
- Own the property's appearance — vacuums stocked and working, bays and grounds clean, trash out, sidewalks clear.
- Run basic equipment checks and flag anything that doesn't look right to your shift lead.
- Learn and uphold the WE OWN IT culture.
- Pitch in wherever the shift needs you. Everyone here learns every role — that's the job, and it's why it never gets boring.
- A high school diploma or GED — or current enrollment in high school. We work around class schedules.
- Previous customer service experience is a plus, but it is not required. We'll train you on everything else.
- A friendly, positive attitude — this is the part we can't teach.
- Willingness to be a utility player. Team members learn and work every position they're eligible for, and we rotate.
- Ability to work outdoors in Michigan weather and stand, walk, bend, and lift for an extended shift, in a consistent state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Availability on weekends and holidays. Our hours are daily, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- At least 16 years of age and legally able to work in the U.S.
- Competitive pay: Starting wage of $15.00 per hour.
- Monthly bonuses: Earn a bonus every pay period based on the wash subscriptions you sell at the window. Sell more, earn more — it's that direct.
- Referral bonus: Know someone who'd be great here? Bring them in and get paid for it.
- Holiday pay: Time and a half for designated worked holidays.
- Retirement savings: Retirement plan with a company match for team members age 21 and over.
- Paid time off: Paid time off that goes beyond Michigan's required earned sick time.
- Real room to grow: We hire our shift leads and managers from our own crew first. Tell us…
