Position Summary

As a Samsung Austin Semiconductor Transmission Electron Microscopy Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing, optimizing and maintaining recipes for various tools and processes involved in a fully automated TEM analysis workflow, including automated TEM sample preparation using focused ion beam, automated TEM imaging and automated measurement of critical dimensions.

Additional functions include basic tool operation, alignment, calibration & maintenance, development of software or automated processes for better throughput, quality & TAT, acceptance and provision of peer trainings, etc.

Role and Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize and maintain recipes for various tools using Python, recipe editor or other similar programming tools.
• Basic operation, alignment, calibration and maintenance of the tools involved in fully automated TEM analysis.
• Provide timely support for recipe troubleshooting.
• Learn new techniques and provide training to peer engineers/technicians.
• Recognize opportunities and lead projects to improve the analytical work in terms of capability, quality, efficiency and cost saving.

Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum # Years Required

• B.S. and above in Materials Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• More than 2 years of hands‑on experience on at least 2 of the following: AMHS, SEM, FIB, TEM, Metrology.
• Fluent in Python, recipe editor or other programming languages. Demonstrated experience on recipe or software development is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, Tools

• More than 2 years of hands‑on experience in at least TWO of the following: AMHS, SEM, FIB, TEM, Metrology.
• Fluent in Python, recipe editor or other programming language. Previous recipe or software development experience is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of semiconductor processes and device physics. More than 2 years experience in semiconductor industry is a plus.
• Excellent problem‑solving ability.
• Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous analytical lab experience is a plus.
