Job Summary
Tutoring Russian language.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities & Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Reliability, timeliness and attention to detail.
- Increasing knowledge of Russian 1010 and 1020, 2010, 2020 and other Russian language related topics including teaching methods and the course textbook, materials, and assignments.
- Increasing competence in tutoring, focusing on textbook integration, identifying student level of competence, and tailoring instruction to the student level, needs, and instructor expectations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications- Current student of SLCC.
- Language teaching or tutoring experience.
- Ability to communicate both in English and the language you will be tutoring.
- Availability to attend the SLCC classes in the target language in conjunction with the approval of the course instructor.
- Attending classes will increase your familiarity with course materials and teaching methods.
- The instructor will expect you to work with students during class time, which is also good preparation for tutoring.
