The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for a motivated individual to work in the Bridge Management Division. This position will provide an opportunity to implement and oversee load rating, load posting, and superload permit load rating analysis for bridges throughout the state.
Principal Duties- Originate new and update existing load rating reports
- Manage and execute superload permit load rating analysis
- Coordinate with local owners and region personnel to oversee load posting
- Utilize and update processes for load rating, load posting, and permit analysis
- Manage and review the work of consultant load rating engineers
- Oversee superload permit analysis automation development including grants and consultants
- May participate in the selection of consulting engineers
- Must be currently registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Utah.
- Note:
If you are not currently licensed in Utah, you will need to obtain a Utah license prior to starting employment.

- Have a minimum of two (2) years of professional engineering experience following licensure as a PE.
Preference may be given to personnel with five (5) or more years of experience in bridge planning, design, load rating, construction, inspection, or management after licensure as a professional engineer.

- use load rating software applications

- make a decision or solve a problem by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutions
- establish objectives and specify the strategies and actions to achieve these objectives
- work with or contribute to a work group or team to complete assigned task(s)
- manage time and assignments to progress work independently
- speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally
- communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing
- organize and coordinate the activities or tasks of people, groups and/or organization(s)
- manage, track, and document activities using and improving existing tools
- oversight of consultant contract scopes, budgets, and schedules

- Working Conditions:
This position primarily involves work in a typical, climate-controlled office setting that is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Standard office safety practices (e.g., safe use of equipment, observing fire regulations) apply. - Physical Requirements:
The work is largely sedentary (sitting comfortably to perform work). However, the role may require some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving a vehicle.
